Does the same error occur if you try to start in Safe Mode?
To start in Safe Mode: -Start the computer and hold down the CTRL key till the Windows 98 Startup menu (boot menu) appears. -Use the arrow keys to select "Safe Mode" and press Enter. If that does not get you to the boot menu, start the computer and just before the Windows graphic logo screen appears, repeatedly tap the F8 key. If so, follow the procedures he Blank Desktop or Illegal Operations Error Message After You Install Internet Explorer: http://support.microsoft.com/?id=kb;en-us;249191 If those procedures do not help, have a look here...you may want to go directly to this procedu Recovering From a Failed Internet Explorer Upgrade in Windows 98: http://www.cs.bsu.edu/~gjjones/admin...nd ows98.html or http://tinyurl.com/r5ba Read the whole article, but especially this section at the end: "If you still have boot problems after you reboot, you should use the command prompt to edit the c:\windows\system.ini file. I tried the options but didn't work. I even tried restoring the "original"
version of the Internet Explorer, but that restoration was interrupted as I didn't have access to internet and it was looking for some files. Now, I get the message "Explore caused an invalid page fault in module EXPLORER.EXE at 015f:06401f31". The Windows doesn't boot up and I can't go into Safe Mode. What can I do now? I tried all the options but didn't work. I tried also to restore my original
internet explorer and that was interrupted by my lack of access to internet, which caused probably an incomplete restoration. I now get the error message: "Explorer caused an invalid page fault in module EXPLORER.EXE at 015f:06401f31". The Windows doesn't start up fully and I need to shut down by using Alt+Ctrl+Del and pressing shutdown option. What can i do? "glee" wrote: Does the same error occur if you try to start in Safe Mode? Did you follow the procedure in the link here, as I suggested?
Recovering From a Failed Internet Explorer Upgrade in Windows 98: http://tinyurl.com/r5ba When you start the IE installation, choose Minimal - Custom, and select only those portions that you already have installed (the items in bold)...this will allow an overinstall which only takes a couple of minutes. If you have the setup files on the hard drive, or on CD, you will not have to connect online, and should be able to cancel any connection prompts. -- Glen Ventura, MS MVP W95/98 Systems http://dts-l.org/goodpost.htm "HWW" wrote in message ...
