Default Opening E-Mail Attachmants

When I attempt to open an E-Mail attachment, I get the following
message: "This file is too large for Notepad to open. Would you like
WordPad to read this file?" When I click on "yes" I get nothing but
gibberish. Is there any way that I can read this file?

Are you using a firewall that changes the extension of email attachments or
an anti-virus application that's doing the same thing?

Are you sure that this file contains plain text that Notepad or Wordpad can
understand? If the attachment is an image or some other type of non-text
file then you are going to see gibberish when you open it with a text
editor.
