I was also going to suggest formatting. How about taking a very powerful

Will wipe the low-level formatting done by the factory for ide drives.

Has anyone heard of Restore? It's freeware. You can recover permanently
deleted files, but it also has a function which wipes all sectors clean making any info next to impossible to recover.
