OK.....obviously you uninstalled Firefox, but it left some files and folders
behind.

Personally?? I would just delete them via Windows Explorer (what you are
calling C: Windows, I imagine) and hold them in the Recycle Bin for 2 or 3
daysto make sure they are not needed (they aren't, but it is a good practice
to do it this way).

Then download Firefox again. This time, download it *unopened* to a folder
that is specifically for that purpose. I have one called *Downloads* where
I put all the programs.....and then open them from there.

The reason for that is if something disagrees with WinME, I have the last
one that worked properly in this folder, and I can revert to that.

When you get Firefox up and running, it asks you where to put the
downloads....I chose a separate folder, just so I know whether FF or IE
downloaded them.

Any other questions?

Cheers....Heather

Hi Heather, Well , If I go to Start/Programs , there is no

Mozilla/Firefox.
also if I go to Add/Remove Mozilla/Firefox , is not there.
But, when I go to C: Windows and scroll down the following

Folder/subfolders
are the MozillaFirefox/Profiles/adjust.default/cache/chrome/ext/{972
etc#'s.
Again, does this mean that I need to remove the above? or not . I'm asking
you guys to give me the answer. If I wish to Reinstall.

thanks, boni.

don't
know what you were doing when you thought you uninstalled it....lol.

read:
There are no stack pages ..necessary to increase the

settings

But, prior to starting the whole Safe Mode today I

received on

message which I have NOT seen in weeks, reads:
TASK SCHEDULER SERVICE
Some task did not execute at their scheduled times because

the
Task
Scheduler Service was not running. You can view the list

and
attempt to run them again, from within the Scheduled Task

folder.
These were in the folder: Maintenance Disk Clean up /

Appl.start including ( Scan-disk and Defrag which I just
completed).
Could I have run the other Task on Safe Mode as well ? let

me
know.
I had mentioned before that I deleted Firefox from

What should I do first to Restore It ? thanks, boni.

As for Safe Mode, I just finished a scan and defrag in

will
give
you the instructions on how to get into it......and when

you
are
finished,
you just go to Start/ReStart and it will automatically

come

Start/Restart......and hold down the Ctrl (sometimes it

OK...you are now in Safe Mode. Do the Scandisk and then

If you wish to reinstall Firefox keep that folder! As the name of the
folder clearly implies the folder contains your Firefox profile, your
bookmarks, your settings and preferences for the program and your emails
if you use the Thunderbird mail reader.

Yes... snow, snow, and more snow! I don't mind snow though, it's those
-25's with hundred mile an hour winds I don't like, when it snows it's
nice and mild, you know the saying "too cold for snow...". That "chiac"
from Shediac is different to say the least. In the northern part of the
province we don't talk chiac, unless we drink too many of them funny
beers. Even we have a hard time understanding chiac, it's mostly a
south-east lingo.

Hi, In Search Files & Folders , if I type Mozilla there to the right I found:

when I type Firefox I found: 3 Files

Firefox Setup 1.0 appl 4,803 KB in Win/Desktop
Firefox File Folder Win/prof

should these also be deleted ?

Q. How to make a Download Folder ? To as you suggest , put downloads inside.
thanks much.. boni.
"Heather" wrote:

OK.....obviously you uninstalled Firefox, but it left some files and folders

Any other questions?

give
you the instructions on how to get into it......and when

you
are
finished,
you just go to Start/ReStart and it will automatically

come
up
in
Normal
Mode, with a few scattered icons that you can rearrange.

Start/Restart......and hold down the Ctrl (sometimes it

is
F8)
key
while
your computer is shutting down and rebooting.......this

will
bring
up a
black and white screen with 4 choices.......pick #3

which is
Safe
Mode.
A
Help screen will come up, but close it.

OK...you are now in Safe Mode. Do the Scandisk and then
Defrag
in
that
order and when finished, click Start/Restart and it will
reboot
into
Normal
Mode.

Good luck.....it is quite easy once you do it a time or

two.
But
this
is
the best way to do the above.

Cheers......Heather.......and if you have any more
questions,
just
ask.

Rick, I did find the area in Control Panel under Programs and there is a
small box unchecked to check if IE is the default browser. Is it that you
mean check as in to look or to put a check in that box ?

check it. With any luck (maybe after a reboot?) IE will then become
your default browser (again) and you won't have to worry about Fx.

Mike,
I don't get it. You obviously have done your best ..incl referred to the
kb article. thanks.......
I will continue to explore other issues that are just as helpful to
me.
thanks, boni.

The KB article is quite explicit as I thought were both of my previous
posts.

In the [386Enh] section, add or edit the following line as applicable:
"MinSPs=4" (without the quotation marks)

Nowhere in my posts or in the KB article does it say anything about adding
the text MinSPs=8 to an existing line. Any reference to "edit" is because
that is what you are doing, making a change, which could be either by
adding or inserting (does that help?) the line MinSPs=8 or amending or
editing an existing line such as for example MinSPs=6 and changing it to
read MinSPs=8.

Mike: Although it might seem clear to you and I have gone over the KB
as well in explaining, just so I get my question across and
understood, I went to Search for Files .. searched system.ini and 1
file showed up System , then I click it and System Notepad
appeared. On the long list I found an entry (386Enh) entry. Now,
when I add not to another line, but the same line ? as below ?

(386Enh)MinSPs=8

Or, if not , is it then typed in between the list ? as :

(386Enh)
MinSPs=8

I don't know... Watch Jane Run
So if it is add =additional or edit = change . ?
Which of the above is correct. or not.

I'm sorry but I'm at a bit of a loss to understand what you are finding
difficult about editing system.ini and adding the line MinSPs=8 to the
section [386Enh]. Perhaps what follows will help which is what the
[386Enh] section looks like on a Win Me box here after adding the line
MinSPs=8.

[386Enh]
MinSPs=8
ebios=*ebios
woafont=app850.fon
mouse=*vmouse,msmouse.vxd
device=*dynapage
device=*vcd
device=*vpd
device=*int13
display=*vdd,*vflatd
PagingDrive=D:

The section [386Enh] may have a different content to the above but don't
worry about that and don't worry about the order of the items as that is
irrelevant. My purpose in posting this is to show you what adding the
line MinSPs=8 will look like. Do NOT edit the entries in your file to be
the same as mine, especially the line PagingDrive. The only change you
should need to make is to add the line MinSPs=8.

Regards and the best of luck,
