pc camera

I have installed a PC camera. The software installed perfectly. However,
when I try to use the camera I get a message that is already used by another
device.

There are no other devices plugged into my USB ports other than the camera.

What device could possibly be using the camera? I have no scanner, no other
phyiscal devices plugged into my system other than a printer which does not
use a USB port.

Any suggestions would be welcome.

PS. There are no question marks or exclamation marks in my Device Manager.

Check the support page at the www site of the camera manufacturer. If you
post details such as make and model, someone here may have experience with
the particular device. Do you know for certain that USB is working (eg, have
you used it successfully with some other USB device)? What other image
capture devices are installed?

Try to find out if you have the camra installed properly. Go to the controle
panel and open the system devices, if you see a yeald sign that has a
exclamation point in it open the properties of it and it will tell you whats
wrong.

Try another USB port.
As an example as to why, here goes.
Have combo USB camera/camcorder. Installed camera driver software and
application for access to the camera. After which, I rebooted. The
application could NOT find the camera. No problems noted in device manager.
I moved the USB cable to another port and it worked fine.
