got a new harddrive reinstalled 98 now i keep getting an
error message ndis file protection error and keeps
restarting need help

Are you running a processor that's 2.1 GHz or faster?

I run SE with a 2.2, 2.4, and 2.6 and have
not seen this error yet.

Try resetting the BIOS to default, I get getting this
error on an old Dell, reset BIOS to default and worked
fine.
