wave device for voice modem

Every time I boot up and my system loads windows, I get a
message that windows 98 has detected a new device called
the 'wave device for voice modem', and it builds a driver
database, then it prompts me to search for a driver for
this device. I have tried to find a driver on Windows98
cd rom, as well as on my hard drive, and I get the message
that no driver was found! Where can I find this driver,
as I belive my speakers cannot work without it. I thought
it should have been on my Windows98 cd rom, but after
repeated searches, it is not there.
Any suggestions would really be appreciated! Thanks.
