Default HELP : Keep getting error messages

Hi there,

After what I think was something that changed things in Internet
Expolorer I now have the following problems :-

1.
When I open Windows Explorer I get the error message :-
"Explorer has caused an error in KERNEL32.DLL.
Explorer will now close."

If I click on the "Close" button Windows Explorer will open normally,
and then appears to work OK

2.
At random intervals I am getting 2 errors, usually these these will
appear together one after another :-

a)
"Mfcot has caused an error in KERNEL32.DLL
Mfcot will now close."

Clicking on the "close" button makes the exact same message re-appear,
clicking on it again seems to stop it happening .. for a while.

b)
"D3rq32 has caused an error in KERNEL32.DLL
D3rq32 will now close."

Clicking on the "close" button makes the exact same message re-appear,
clicking on it again seems to stop it happening .. for a while.

A little investigation shows that 'Mfcot.exe' is in the Windows folder
and D3rq32.exe is in the Windows\System folder ....

Help please !

Thanks in Advance,

Steve

Default HELP : Keep getting error messages

My 'guess' is that you've got virus/spy/malware.

A quick Giggle for D3rq32.exe and Mfcot.exe alert you to some alarming
suggestions.

As Noel would say :-

"You may already have a virus/spyware hijack

download the Stinger from here and run it to make sure that A-V-disabling
viruses are not present on your PC
http://vil.mcafeesecurity.com/vil/averttools.asp

- update your virus scanner and run a full system scan of all files.

Reboot to Safe Mode and run CWShredder - to remove variants of the
CoolWebSearch hijacker.
http://www.merijn.org/cwschronicles.html

Use CWShredder, the removal tool:
http://www.intermute.com/products/cwshredder.html
(download it without the accompanying rubbish)

download AdAware SE Personal Edition from www.lavasoftusa.com, install,
update, and run it to remove spyware, adware, and other such nasties from
your system."

Good luck

Mart

As a deliberate play on words it suggests a subtlety so profound I can only
marvel in ignorance at it!
