Default Ping does not Work

When I enter that address (or click on the link in your message) I get taken
to http://www.ibm.com/us/. That is the address you should be attempting to
ping.

You can confirm this by doing IPCONFIG /all to find the IP address of your
DNS server, and trying to ping that.

Sorry, I do not understand your question. When I enter in www.ibm.com in
the addr field of my browser it takes me to ibm.com.

But ping does not work to any site.

Ping will not work with most Web sites. Just about every major web site
(and most of the smaller ones as well) block pings since they can either be
used to discover sites and servers or can be maliciously modified to crash a
system.

Yahoo (www.yahoo.com) still responds to ping commands. I use it quite
often when checking out Internet access problems.

Default Ping does not Work

I just tried PING www.yahoo.com in a DOS window and I get the same message,
Request Timed Out.

Is there something in either my networking settings or my firewall settings
that might be preventing Ping from working?
