Default Windows does not read DVD disc properly

I have an older DVD-ROM drive, the Pioneer DVD-113, firmware 1.21. I am =
trying to play a DVD ("Table Tennis 101") on my computer, using Windows =
98 SE. Windows Explorer displays that the DVD is size 1.99 GB and the =
only file listed is "Track01.cda" (size 1 KB). I don't see the VIDEO_TS =
folder and all the other folders on the disc. I've tried this on other =
computers and they read the disc fine.

I've tried all of the following:

- installing/uninstalling various versions of the ASPI layer
- shutting down computer, removing DVD drive, then putting back in
- remove all burning or DVD playback software
- remove ATA-133 card which I use for my hard disc

Nothing has worked. Does anyone have any ideas? How could I make the =
DVD-ROM drive read the DVD properly in Windows? Could this be a hardware =
issue with the drive? (Note: I haven't tried any other DVDs on it =
recently.)

Thanks,

Ivan

I'd suspect the drive is either dirty or faulty.

It sounds to me like the drive has drifted out of alignment,
or got knocked out when and if you moved the computer.

The bad news is that, like most VCRs these days,
it simply will not be cost-effective to have it repaired.

The good news is that it will soon be Christmas.....

It might very well be a hardware issue, but I wasn't quite sure about =
that - when google for "DVD track01.cda", it seems that there are =
several scenarios in which this has come up, and in many cases it was =
not a hardware issue. What I'll try to do is test some other DVDs on =
this player (BTW, it plays CDs fine), and also test the player on a =
different machine, perhaps a Windows 2000 machine, and then hopefully I =
can come to a satisfactory conclusion...
