Joan, Shane, Noel, IE6 problem solved
After posting problems about being unable to download IE6
or should I say that the download failed to complete, last night I happened on this newgroup. http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/dgbrowser/en- us/default.mspx? dg=microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6.setup &mid=3f5c cb0c-c882-400e-8f68-d6b55caf6df9&tid=3f5ccb0c-c882-400e- 8f68-d6b55caf6df9 Here is the solution but I had a take a little different approach. Zee says go to my computer, tools but I don't have the tools option. I used explore, files, show hidden files. Then I did a search for C:/Program Files/Internet Explorer/Uninstall Information and it didn't show. I then pasted it into run and it popped up. There were 44 files in the folder. I followed the rest of the instructions and things seem to be fine. The new uninstall folder only has 17 files. Kelly Smith oops!! 9/10/2004 12:30 AM PST Can't reinstall IE 6 on WinME In: microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6.setup Try this: Go to My Computer - Tools - Folder Options - View: - Select "Show hidden files and folders", click Apply - OK Create a folder named "Old uninstall". Go to folder C:/Program Files/Internet Explorer/Uninstall Information. Now Edit - Select All - Cut all files. Open "Old uninstall" folder and paste the files. You will now be able to install all the troublesome components. If everything works as expected, you can delete the "Old Uninstall" folder and the files you moved. Good luck, Zee |
