Default QuickTime and ITunes

I have been unable to use my itunes since late last year and have tried on
several occasionsions to update or download. The problem seems to be between
my Apple Software Update, Windows system32/msi. I have tried to remove
QuickTime from my system completely but part of it appears to be locked and
keeps asking for authorisation to delete. The QuickTime sybol appears
encased in what looks like black pincers when the authorisation window comes
up. This looks to me like some sort of protection system lock but im having
no luck trying to locate it. I must stress that I am a novice and am worried
that I will really mess up my system by keep taking these actions. Is there
anyone out there that can help me. Please

It's unlikely that anyone in these groups will respond, simply because you
don't specify enough information.... and you're in very much the wrong
newsgroup/forum!
This NG/forum is for those using Windows Millennium Edition.
From what little you tell us, I understand that you are using either Windows
Vista or Win 7 - and you should readdress your query to one of their fora.
You should also state:-
The version of Windows you are using
The version of Quicktime you are attempting to remove
The version of iTunes you are trying to remove - and the version to which
you are trying to update.
How you have attempted to uninstall the programs - and the EXACT error
messages you receive.
Have you tried using System Restore at all?
