Default My Computer?

Hi, Maybe I can get some answers from this group on Windows, I have a
computer thats 3 not quite 4 yrs old. Its running WindowsMe its only 64 mb
and 733Mhz.When My Computer starts and goes through the process of the Dell
Logo, then Windows Me Logo and then to my desktop icons it will go no further,
meaning it just freezes up my keyboard won't work my mouse won't work its
just in a frozen state. I've tried everything I know to figure out what it
could be. I just don't want to believe its my hard drive. When I go into my
system setup and look under my events log it says keyboard error. I've tried
installing another keyboard from my friends keyboard but it does the same
thing, even though we have two different pc's . I've ran a diagnostic and it
will go as far as scaning some modules but when it gets to keyboard module it
says failed! I've tried everything from reseating my dimm's to reseating my
expansion cards! I've even took it to a pc shop and the person did everthing
I did but running a diagnostic and it does the same thing to him, FREEZES
UP! He says its either my hard drive or motherboard is gone. Can anyone
please give me some solutions!!I've tried dell forum and I miss my pc its
been 2 months . If it is my hard drive can I purchase another one and install
it in my pc? or would I be better off trying to buy another pc? Also when it
says keyboard error could it be the module in my pc that connects my keyboard
? just a thought. Please any help!!!!!! Thank You!!!!

When you were in school - did you ever learn to write a story using
paragraphs? Try it - and make your story readable.

Jeez.. following that was hard work!! g

However, assuming that you had previously checked for viruses etc., you need
to
determine whether it's a heat/hardware issue rather than a WinMe issue. If
heat related, then the inside of the box may need a good clearout. (A lot of
dust gets sucked into the box due to the fan(s) and can reduce the cooling
efficiency). Also, have you added any new devices recently?

Boot using your Windows Startup (floppy) Disk and select Option 1.) the DOS
Help page. Leave it running for several hours, scrolling up and down the
pages every so often and see if it still locks-up (freezes).

If so, then it's a problem with your PC and not with WinMe.

If not, then boot into Safe Mode (F8 or Ctrl keys at boot-up) and leave it
running in that mode for a few hours and see if it freezes. If so, you may
need to disconnect external items of hardware to see if you can isolate it.

Good luck

Mart
