I'm determined not to let this computer beat me up...a
DELL with Windows ME was given to us and I'm dealing with
a lot of unknowns and have had to correct many problems.
Now...I had a "live update" box popup while online and I
closed out and the computer froze. I posted a message
here and got a couple of suggestions but I can even get
booted up to try anything. Things had been working fine
before that, after fixing a few other issues, but now when
I boot up it doesn't even get to the menu to chose what
option you want (Normal, Safe Mode, etc.)it just freezes
at the blank screen after the ME logo shows up for a few
seconds.

I tried re-loading Windows ME from the CD but now it seems
worse. I did get an error message "exception OE has
occurred at 0028:2E455845 in VxD...this was called from
0028:C0158114 in VxD VKD(01)+00000640"

What the heck is this and did I overwrite all of our
programs on the computer or wipe anything out by loading
Windows ME from the CD again? Someone please help me. I
tried running the Safe Mode but haven't been able to
complete it yet because it asks questions that don't
really apply to what I've done. Please help...please,
please, please! We rely on this machine heavily in my
household. Thanks!
