Default Can't get Win 98 to run

I have an old thinkpad 240x with a pcmcia cdrom. I can't
boot up from the cdrom as without an operating system the
laptop won't see it...so I removed the hard drive from my
laptop and using it as the hard drive on my desk top I
installed Win 98 SE on it I also made a boot floppy in the
process.
With the hard drive back in my laptop and the BIOS set to
boot up from the hard drive 'no operating system comes up.

I then set the BIOS to boot from the floppy disk and get
as far as DOS prompts... I can C:\dir and see a list of
files but can't get Windows to run HELP...

Sounds like the one or two things.

1. The Patition has to be made "Active"
2. Needs Boot files on it.

To do # 1.
You can use any boot disk (DOS 6.22 and up) boot on the boot disk run Fdisk
and set the partition active.

To do # 2
You'll need Windows 98 Boot disk and once you boot up with this enter the
command "SYS C:" without the quotes.

This should get you going.

Do # 1

Reboot. If it still doesn't work Do # 2.

Hope this helps.
