Default Recurring Scandisk Errors

Win98se

I run scandisk regularly. Even more so now that it is repeatedly
finding the same errors in the master boot records of C, D & E..

The effect of these errors results in incorect reporting of the
remaining space on those drives.

Repairs are made & all is well for a short while, but then the errors
reappear.

It's more of a nuisance than anything else, i.e. I was just erroneously
informed that C:\ was out of space. Also, because I use a second HD
for backup, I will occasionally get messages during backup telling me
D:\ has run out of space. Thus, my data can't be backed up until I fix
the errors.

Anybody got a clue how I can better deal with this?.

The way to deal with those errors is to find out why your computer is being
shut down incorrectly and correcting that problem.

I never said my computer is being shut down.

As I stated, when I run scandisk it reports the errors & I allow them to
be fixed.

Oddly, if I run scandisk again immediately after the repairs are made,
it often still reports the errors, so I must reboot for the proper drive
sizes to be reflected & for the errors to disappear when scandisk is run
again. But after time scandisk again begins to report the same type of
errors & the process must be repeated.
