Default INSTALL.EXE

I have been trying to reinstall my Lexmark X73 and I get
this message along with others.

A required .DLL file, KERNEL32.DLL was not found. Does it
have something to do with installation?

I also had a problem with USER.EXE at 0006:00007b2a

How can I get rid of xadso.offeroptimizer.com;
xadsq.offeroptimizer.com and xlime.offeroptimizer.com?

Mediacom, my isp, at mchsi.com send out a message about a
worm, , that has been attacking
mchsi.com users. I keep my virus protection upgraded bug
am wondering if that may be part of my problem or maybe I
have some spyware? What is C:\WINDOWS\BELT.exe?

While running SFC I found out that I need to restore
C:\Program Files\InstallShield Installation
Information\{76C7D7BA-76AC-4192-A0B2-B6FB5D18C9B4}. How
do I do that? What do these numbers mean: 6, 30, 100,
1255?

Thanking you in advance for your help.

BELT.exe and offeroptimizer = Adware.Binet, a.k.a. abetterinternet adwa
http://sarc.com/avcenter/venc/data/pf/adware.binet.html

I don't think you are using SFC correctly, if it is telling you to restore an
Installshield Installation Information folder. SFC is not an intelligent program
and relies only on the database that was last built. To restore a folder in that
location, you would have to reinstall whatever program created it during its
original installation.

6, 30, 100, and 1255 are merely numbers....in what context are you seeing them, and
what are you trying to determine?

Follow these procedures:

Update your anti-virus app and then run a full-system virus scan.

Use CWShredder, the CoolWeb removal tool, available he
http://www.majorgeeks.com/downloads31.html
http://www.spywareinfo.com/downloads...CWShredder.exe
http://aumha.org/downloads/cwshredder.zip

In addition, install Ad-Aware 6 free edition, start it, click its 'Check for
Updates' link in the app to install updates, then use it to scan your system, and
remove what it finds.

Default INSTALL.EXE

The numbers, 6, 30, 100, and 1255, were in connection with
the InstallShield Installation Information. Just curious.

Where, CD or floppy, would I find the program app to
restore Installshield Installation Information folder?

I keep my anti-virus app upgraded and it runs a full scan
every Sunday beginning at 9:30 A.M. One day Norton
upgraded twice. Can't remember what day though, wasn't to
long ago however.

You need to run the other apps I mentioned:

Use CWShredder, the CoolWeb removal tool, available he

Start it and click the FIX button.

You don't need to restore the InstallShield folder. It was created by some
installation....I have no way of knowing what installation unless I read files that
are remaining in the folder, if there are any. If there is a "setup.ini" file in
the folder named {76C7D7BA-76AC-4192-A0B2-B6FB5D18C9B4}, open it with Notepad and it
should name the program that added the folder during install. However, there is no
need to have the folder.
