"WSCGetProviderPath failed, WSAEPROVIDERFAILEDINIT" causing apps f

after running Spybot & Adaware to remove spywares.
getting:

"WSCGetProviderPath failed, WSAEPROVIDERFAILEDINIT"

This comes after rebooting. Also comes up when starting any browsers & the
browsers cannot start.

Already re-installed Windows ME, IE 6 SP1, Mozilla firefox 1.0.3, Earthlink
TotalAccess & still getting error messages.

you may have spyware
Such errors are often caused by spyware - download AdAware from
www.lavasoftusa.com, install, update, and run it to remove spyware, adware,
and other such nasties from your system.

had already run lavasoft from Adaware, before getting this type of error.
had already applied fix Winsockfix.zip

Try following the instructions here to uninstall/reinstall TCP/IP
