Default My Mouse still does not work in safe mode 2nd request

I followed Mikhail's instructions to the letter and I still have no mouse in
safe mode. Also, I wonder if I have to edit the autoexec.bat and the
config.sys to allow for a mouse in safe mode because I had commands calling
for it last time and these commands do not show up when I load 98SE normally.

Config.sys

DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\HIMEM.SYS
DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\EMM386.EXE

Autoexec.bat

SET PATH=%PATH%;C:\PROGRA~1\ATITEC~1\ATICON~1
SET BLASTER=A220 I5 D1 H5 P330
SET CTSYN=C:\WINDOWS
C:\PROGRA~1\CREATIVE\DOSDRV\SBEINIT.COM
Set tvdumpflags=10

(Can someone help me now please -- TIA for the help)

I can't find that thread. None of those commands would have any affect
on your mouse behavior, Dan. Besides, in Safe Mode, those files aren't
involved.

This is part of the post that I can no longer find:

Do you know how I can get the latest MS-DOS mouse driver to have the mouse
automatically load up when I use 98SE in DOS mode? The file I need is
msmouse.exe and Microsoft told me on the phone that the only thing they had
available was the Intellipoint software which I already have.

Unless it's a USB mouse, any DOS mouse driver should work; the one I
use happens to be Mitsumi's, because it uses the least RAM. You may
find freeware mouse drivers at places like www.bootdisk.com

To get this to work with DOS mode, add it to DOSSTART.BAT (for DOS
Mode .pif set to "use current configuration") and the private
Autoexec.bat within the properties of DOS Mode .pif that are set to
"Specify a new...".

If your mouse driver is a .SYS that has to be loaded from Config.sys
as a device driver, you can use a utility such as CTLoad to load it
from DOSSTART.BAT, and you can add it to the private Config.sys within
the properties of DOS Mode .pif that are set to "Specify a new...".

I cannot find the thread either. I think it may have been deleted -- anyway
here was some of the info. from one of the posts

I hope someone can help me have the mouse run in safe mode
configuration/MS-DOS mode.

Is your query about getting the mouse to work in DOS mode or in safe mode?
Any changes you make in autoexec or config (any version) will not have an
effect in safe mode.

Jeff, I want it to work in both if possible but let's start with safe mode.

It's out of my cache, now, and Google Groups Search (beta) also draws a
blank. But this confusion about Safe Mode mouse and BIOS mouse isn't
making things any better, s.

And, again--you're *sure* it's enabled in BIOS? If it is, the only other
thing I can think of would be resource conflicts--something else is
snagging the resources that the mouse needs. But this isn't the kind of
thing one can diagnose from afar.
