HD Recognition
I have an IBM-DTTA 351010 HD set as the Primary Master and
a MAXTOR 6E030L0 as the Primary Slave. The System recognizes the MAXTOR while booting, but My Computer or Windows Explorer do not show it once the System is up and running. The jumpers are currently set as shown on the HD, but other combinations have not solved the problem. If I were to make the MAXTOR Master and the IBM Slave.....all is well. The OS is Windows98 (First Edition). Thanks for your help! |

Also, when doing so, the primary needs to be on the end connector and the secondary should be on the intermediate connector. You also need a ATA cable, which is normally identified with a blue connector that connects at the controller. CONTROLLER(Blue) -------- SECONDARY(Grey)-------------PRIMARY(Black) gm |

I have encountered problems similar to this before with hard drives that are from different manufacturers and when one of the drives is several years older than the other. The only solution that I have found is to reconfigure the drive connections so that the one drive is the primary master and the other is the secondary master. The CDROM etc have to be connected as slave drives. Good luck Ron Martell Duncan B.C. Maxtor's have this grumpy little habit of not liking to be slaves. Try
moving it to secondary master. "Bernie P." wrote in message ... I have an IBM-DTTA 351010 HD set as the Primary Master and a MAXTOR 6E030L0 as the Primary Slave.
