virus cause my display properties and internet problems

I had a virus in my system on the weekend
i have win98 my display propeties has changed
i can not change the color of my desktop
because background and appearance is no longer on my
display properties.
plus my ie5 does not keep the memory of my website
when i go to internet options
HELP
what do i do.

It sounds like your Home page was hijacked. What is the name of the page
that it goes to when you start IE? If we know that, we can probably find
out how to fix the problem.

As for the display properties. You probably need to reinstall your video
driver. Go to the web site for your computer or the video card and make
sure that you have the latest driver available.

These two sites have lots of information that you should find helpful in
getting rid of Spyware, Malware or Virus.

I agree with PattyL that you probably have more malware aboard...spyware, adware, or
home page hijackers. Start off with the web pages Patty gave you and follow their
procedures, then post back with what you have found.

Regarding your display problem, it may not be the drivers at issue, but rather
restrictions that have been added in the registry. If yours is a work computer,
they may have been added by the administrator. If it is your personal home
computer, the restrictions may have been placed by malware, unless you have been
playing with some tweaking utilities. If I am reading your post correctly, when you
open Display properties, the Background and Appearance tabs are missing
altogether....is that correct?
