Boot disk for windows ME
hello there,
you have to push F2 while system starts. then go to settings. Select Boot configuration, and uncheck options to start with floppy disk. There have to be left " boot up with hard drive" and "cd- room" . Exit configuration and continue by selecting run in Safe Mode. In Safe mode go to Start-Setting-Add/Remove programs, and select Startup Disk tab. Insert floppy disk and create a disk. Then with this disk try to start your system. -----Original Message----- Anyone know where I can get a boot disk for windows ME?? Boot disk for windows ME
well that's just plain wrong.
You set the Booting Order to Floppy then CD then Hard Drive so it will look for a bootable floppy first then a bootable CD then finally if neither are present it will boot off the hard drive. Again, No.
Booting Order is as I just replied to another poster (yourself?) in this thread. You don't need to be in Safe Mode to create an EmergencyBootDisk. The place to make it is Start/Settings/*ControlPanel*/AddRemove... etc. Rick ow to Pete wrote: hello there, you have to push F2 while system starts. then go to settings. Boot disk for windows ME
Thanks for the advice guys but it wont do any of this. The
thing is dead right now and asking for a boot disk to startup. I have a CD and tried selecting boot off CD when in F2 mode and it doesnt recognise it. I tried a windows 98 boot disk and it goes into all sorts of detail about partitioning after failing to boot. I have tried just plain safe mode and that doesnt boot. I have tried DOS mode and it wont even accept a wipe out and start again 'format' command. The only thing I havent tried is a plain ME boot disk which has got lost and wanted to try that..... thanks for the advice so far, any other suggestions.
