Default HP Photosmart 7960

After instaling this printer I have a problem in
windows explorer. When I go into it my computer hangs.
If the USB cable is not connected to the computer it
doesn't hang. With the cable connected Ican access
programs and print documents with no problem.

This sounds like it could be an upper memory conflict. See this article:

System Configuration Utility Advanced Troubleshooting Settings
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=181966

Select EMM Exclude A000-FFFF. If this fixes the problem, you may be able to
exclude a smaller area of upper memory but this will tell you if an upper
memory conflict is the problem.
