Default Using Firefox on Windows ME

Has anyone had any experience installing/using the
Firefox browser on ME. I am just looking for general
opinions and feedback. Most importantly, I am wondering
how stable it is and whether IE can coexist without any
issues. Thanks in advance.

I am about to put it on here myself. I have heard a lot of good things
about it. You still need IE to do Windows Updates, etc. But I will be
watching answers and will let you know how I do.

Hi Ken

Just one bug, link to fix below:
http://johnhaller.com/jh/mozilla/firefox_bug_246078.asp

No other problems.
Have been using for 4 months, like it very much.
You need to spend a while configuring it to suit
your requirements, especially the Toolbar, which is very
sparse, straight out of the box. (View Toolbars Customise)

George.....I have the 9.xxx version here, but also just downloaded the 1.0PR
version......does this fix the bug? I wasn't sure whether to use the 9.3 or
the latest 1.0PR one.

Heather

Have been using the latest version (1.0 PR) for about
2 weeks I don't think it fixes the bug ... not sure!
I have not seen any aknowledgement by Firefox that this
bug even exists, it was only by sheer accident that I found
the link to the fix!

Anyway it's no big issue, if you click on any of your existing IE
links, (after making Firefox the default browser),
an error dialogue pops up, that you have to close to proceed,
merely an annoyance, the fix does away with this need.

I think it really is worth the effort to get to know the browser.
Very quick and efficient, no pop ups, malware, spyware, adware.
Should suit you!

Enjoy.

George

I downloaded version .9x on my WIN ME a few months ago--
haven't gotten around to installing the newest version yet-
-and really like it. It seems very fast, and I haven't had
a problem with errors or viewing my usual websites with
it. And, there have been no conflicts with IE6 or my
other programs. Now, I hardly use IE6 at all--when I do
it's mostly for Windows updates. Definitely a thumbs-up.

Hi George.....

Well, I opened up Firefox 1.0PR before supper and am busy getting used to
it. I haven't applied the patch yet.

Is there a forum for questions? My Bookmarks (plus all the other stuff)
imported from IE, but they are not the way I like them and can't see where
to fix that. IOW, my top yellow folders all held many links......they are
now scattered thru out.

Oh well, t'is early yet.......will go and play with it some more.

Thanks......Heather

Not in the long run, but it may depend on your machine a bit.
I did have it for a while some time ago and seem to remember a couple of
issues, but not what they were.
It may go well for you.
I surely wish all of you, including Heather, good luck with it.

Harry, old and might give it a try himself.
