Default Audio CD's won't play anymore???

Movies play, but songs won't...I get message that Windows Media Player (or
other players) encountered error OxCOOD11F8 Cannot CD using digital
playback. When I try to fix via Devices...Tools... Options ... as soon as I
click the drive (either the CD or DVD) the cursor zips down to the bottom of
the screen and nothing happens. Repeated attempts and other ways in all lead
here. I can select the speakers, but not the drives!!?! The CD's do play on
an external player, so I know they work. Can you help me?

Thank You,

Jack Inskip

Now there's a thought! - although AFAIK, that issue shouldn't affect Win9x
systems??

No I haven't, although I did read about the Sony attempt to inject malware,
and then recall it. I'll have to check with the kids though to see if they
did load one of the Sony made CDs to see if that might have started this
mess.

Thanks Mowgreen,

Jack Inskip

Wait a minute ... F-Secure Rootkit Information : XCP DRM Software
http://www.f-secure.com/v-descs/xcp_drm.shtml
The software supports Windows 98SE, Windows ME, Windows 2000 SP4 and Windows XP.

Win 9x is susceptible, too.

But not using NTFS as its filing system Win 9x doesn't have ADS so whilst
it might run it certainly can't hide. :-)
