Default trying to track down an error

i'm trying to install update drivers for my graphics card
and directx9. everytime i do, i get a point after
the "updating windows database info" saying that lkernel
has caused some sort of problem with setupdll, and the
install fails.

not unexpectedly, i can't find lkernel using the
filesearch for windows. does anybody know where lkernel
is, and how i can get past it, or get rid of it?
