Default OMG, this is so annoying. Can anyone help?

I was using IE6 browser with no problems about a month ago - was able to view
images, etc. Now I cannot view images on websites and sometimes when I try
and reload the page, it just give me the page saying it cannot be displayed.
This is on ALL websites, not just certain ones. So, thinking it was my
browser, I switched browsers - to Firefox standalone, but that browser was so
slow and eventually I ended up with the same problem. Again, thinking it was
my browser, I just installed Netscape 8.0 and all seemed well, though
browsing/LOADING was slow, but now it seems the SAME problem is happening
again with the images not being displayed (a popular site I use to test all
this on is eBay). Usually the images will not load there (but will on
Google). Even if I clear my cache, etc., or close and reopen any browser, or
reboot, I still have this problem. I checked my registry for anything
unusual (like with fonts, or with text type) and could not find anything. I
am using Windows98SE and my next step was to reinstall it? I am still using
this platform because I have several periphials that are not XP compatible.
PLEASE, can ANYONE help me? PLEASE PLEASE!
