ME installation cd

What files and\or cabs are needed to make a windows ME installation cd?
I currently do not have an installation cd for this computer, and it would
be a comfort to have one, just in case. From what I understand I must burn
all the contents of the c:\windows\options\install to a cd. I also retrieved
the ME product key from the belarc app. Am I on the right track or is there
something else to complete this mission? Thanks in advance for any tips and
suggestions...

Look for a folder containing the file BASE2.CAB. By default this will be
either C:\Windows\Options\Install or C;\Windows\Options\Cabs but some OEMs
place it elsewhere, sometimes even on a second partition. When located and
if it contains not only BASE2.CAB but also other cab files including
PRECOPY.CAB, CABINET.CAB, and several others such as NET3.CAB, DRIVER5.CAB
and WIN_8.CAB as well as the all important setup.exe then this is the
folder you need to copy to a CD. Total size at least 153MB and at least
52 files plus possibly a folder.

Once you have a CD containing the Win Me cab files and setup.exe and know
the product key and have a bootable floppy to hand you are all set to wipe
you hard disk and can clean install Win Me by running setup.exe on the CD
you made.

If you don't have the product key to hand you can recover the product key
from the registry using a program such as Belarc Adviser or AIDA32
(http://www.aumha.org/downloads/aida32.zip) or by using Regedit and noting
the data for the value ProductKey found at:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion

Just want to make sure that all that is needed are in the "install" folder.
I know I have all cabs and the setup.exe. My concern is that you mentioned
the "install" folder should containing at least 53 files and total least
153MB.
My "install" folder contains 63 files with a total of 143MB. I don't have
the robcopy.exe nor the winme.wmv files. Are these two files neccesary for a
full functional installation cd for ME? Is there a website that lists all the
files that should be in the "install" folder.
I don't want to leave any stone unturned with this procedure...

Win Me has no file called robcopy.exe and winme.wmv shouldn't be of any
consequence. Winme.wmv is 11.3MB, meaning that if you don't have this
file you should have 51 Win Me files all dated 8 June 2000 totalling
around 142MB. Don't worry about having additional files with later dates.
These files will have been added to the folder when you installed patches
from the Windows Update site or via Automatic Update and these files will
be used when you install Win Me rather than the earlier versions contained
in the Win Me cab files.

I'm a little intrigued though that you don't have more additional files.
On a fully patched Win Me system here with IE5.5 SP2 I have 25 and a
similar number on a fully patched system with IE6 SP1. Not that this is
important of course. It just means you will have a few additional
hotfixes to install after you've installed Win Me.

installation cd for ME and utilize the cd for a clean install of windows
ME.

If your files are in the Install folder rather than the Cabs folder, this is
likely irrelevent, but you might like to check there's no msbatch.inf (or
possibly msbatch.xpr). If there is, rename it/them, eg to .txt, if you want
a *fully* functional cd.

There is no msbatch.inf or alike in the install folder
