Default Resource conflict

Greetings.
On an E-Machine 192MB RAM, 566Mhz, I am getting a conflict in resource error
just before it boots up the OS (Win98). I took out the modem card (PCI slot
2) and the conflict is gone. I place it in slot 3 and the error returns now
showing slot 3 has the error. Is this a bad card now or do I need to set
the configuration manually? If I do, then how do I find out what to set it
at?
Thank you for any help you can give!
B.rgds,
Kevin

More likely than not the problem is simply that the modem you're adding is
trying to take over an existing serial port on your motherboard. Go into
your computer's BIOS setup and disable any internal COM ports you are not
using. Your system manual or EMachine website should have more information
on this.
