WJVIEW error message
The most common cause is "WebSavings" adware....see he
"WJView Error at Startup": http://www.mvps.org/sramesh2k/WJViewError.htm See also: eBates MoneyMaker: http://www.pestpatrol.com/PestInfo/e...moneymaker.asp If not found, then look for other similar entries, such as CouponsandOffers, and use the following for troubleshooting: WJView is a Java command line tool. Click StartRun, type MSCONFIG and click OK. Click the Startup tab. Look for any reference to WJVIEW in the listed entries, uncheck the box, and click OK. If none are found, look for a reference in the list to any files with .jar or .jre extensions, and do the same to them. Also, have a look he http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=e...d6509aad0&rnum =1 Update your anti-virus app and then run a full-system virus scan. There is spyware/adware that uses Wjview.exe to run Java-based advertising on your machine. When you look in msconfigstartup tab, you should see a program name associated with the wjview entry there (such as CouponsandOffers, and others). Use CWShredder, the CoolWeb removal tool, available he http://www.majorgeeks.com/downloads31.html http://www.spywareinfo.com/downloads...CWShredder.exe http://aumha.org/downloads/cwshredder.zip In addition, install Ad-Aware 6 free edition, start it, click its 'Check for Updates' link in the app to install updates, then use it to scan your system, and remove what it finds. Ad-Awa http://www.lavasoftusa.com/support/download/ Install, update and run SpyBot Search & Destroy, scan your system, and then remove the items in RED only. SpyBot S&D: http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?page=download Download, unzip, and run Hijack This from one of these locations: http://computercops.biz/downloads-cat-14.html http://www.majorgeeks.com/downloads31.html http://www.spywareinfo.com/downloads...HijackThis.exe Unzip to a folder other than your Desktop or the Temp folder, doubleclick HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan". When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log" button. Press that, save the log somewhere you can find it (Desktop, My Documents, or similar). Most of what it lists will be harmless or even required, so do NOT fix anything yet. Java is an internet display language so WJVIEW is nor normally loaded at boot. You may be able to find what is calling it in AUTOEXEC.BAT (not needed by Win98), MSCONFIG or perhaps one of the Registry RunOnce entries. If you are not familiar with Java you do not need this file call. -- Don Phillipson Carlsbad Springs (Ottawa, Canada) |

WJVIEW error message
Thanks! I uninstalled WebSavings, unchecked the box in msconfig for the
WJViewe, and deleted the registry key. That did the trick. John "glee" wrote in message ...
