Default .EXE ERROR MESSAGES

My fathers pc is Windows ME. He has Q & A installed and
it performed perfectly well for years. Now when he tries
to save a file or close and open another, he gets the
error message that the QA.exe file cannot be found. I
assumed Q&A was corrupt so deleted it and reinstalled it.
Got the same message. Now it seems the Solitaire game
that comes with Windows is giving him the message Sol.exe
cannot be found. These happen when he clicks on his
desktop icons to use these 2 programs. Any ideas or
solutions would be appreciated.... am thinking a total
reformat might be in order UGHHHHHHHHHH Thanks in advance.

Wouldn't go that far yet! Go to search files and folders
and type in the name of the files you're looking for. You
may find them this way and you can then create a shortcut
from that point. If they don't show up from search...you
may be looking at a reinstall of ME. That won't require a
reformat...just let the cd reinstall the os over the old
version.
