How to run Win98 on primary and WinME on secondary
I already have Win98SE running on my primary HDD.
I would like to install and run WinME on my secondary HDD. I have researched until I am dizzy, but cannot find the exact way to install and run/boot to WinME on secondary HDD. (That is, if I am able to install it there.) Bootmagic is often mentioned, but it appears that is used when running two OSs on the same HDD. Any suggestions??? I am not a novice in some ways, but certainly am in this instance and would like simple instructions, if possible. Thanks a million to anyone who can help. Dancer............. |

Why would you want to do this? ME is not worth the trouble.

You need a boot manager to do this. You can download an evaluation copy of
BootIT Next Generation from http://www.bootitng.com/ to see how it's done. -- Richard G. Harper [MVP Win9x] * PLEASE post all messages and replies in the newsgroups * for the benefit of all. How to run Win98 on primary and WinME on secondary

Why would you want to do this? ME is not worth the trouble. I want to do this because I have a couple programs that will not run on Win98 but will run on ME. Seems like a good enough reason. And I do NOT want to upgrade to XP because I have some hardware that will not run on XP but will run on 98 and ME. Besides I already have XP on another computer. Interesting how no matter what one asks on these forums, someone always knows better. Unless he walks in my shoes, he has no idea why I want to do what I want to do. And normally someone answers without reading the entire message and gives an answer that completely misses the point. But I keep posting because there are some helpful, nonjudgmental folks out there. And many, many thanks to them. D........... |

Interesting how no matter what one asks on these forums, someone always knows better. If you read enough in the MS groups, you'll find quite a few people who've wasted their time with ME, and are advising others not to do the same. Absent other factors, you are welcome to ignore the advice. Unless he walks in my shoes, he has no idea why I want to do what I want to do. And normally someone answers without reading the entire message and gives an answer that completely misses the point. OK. I reread your original message. It mentioned NOTHING about software & hardware incompatibilities. Read what you wrote. Now, if you want to install an OS which has little or no raison d'etre, knock yourself out. |
