Default Font "Times Roman" corrupted

One of my company's PC using Window ME.
Most text in all documents (Excel or Word) and e-mail using font Times
Roman/Times Roman Bold/Times Roman Italic are shown in square.
I can't find any font in the Windows ME CD, so I try to copy font files via
my PC (I'm using Window XP) to that PC.
However, system display "font files must delete first", so I try to delete
related font files. But, once I delete them, they'll occur automatically.
Then I try to select "Install new font" from the menu, but system display
"font files are in use" (I've closed all application).

How can I do? Please help me.

Three of the four Times Roman font files, times.ttf, timesbd.ttf and
timesbi.ttf but for some reason not timesi.ttf are protected against being
deleted or altered by Win Me's system file protection mechanism. This is
why you are unable to replace them however for the same reason I am a
little intrigued as to how they might have become damaged.

The four files concerned are contained in the file Win_20.cab and can be
replaced by booting to Safe Mode and using MSConfig | General | Extract
File and following the prompts. The "cab" files are in the Win9x folder
on the Win Me CD and normally also in either Windows\Options\Cabs or
Windows\Options\Install. See MS KB 265371 - "How to Extract and Replace
a Protected File in Windows Me" (http://support.microsoft.com?kbid=265371)
for details of how to extract files from the cab set.
