Default Auto-Update ADODB

Has anyone experienced a problem with the auto update
for "Critical Patch for ADODB (KB879699)? When I attempt
to update nothing seems to happen and my system hangs.

Any thoughts?

THANKS!

I had AU seemingly stall when downloading this patch on one of my PCs running
Win Me but then had no problem when I went to the Windows Update site and
downloaded and installed the patch manually. The patch itself is small since
it doesn't update any files but rather makes some rather important changes in
the registry.

I, too, applied the patch from the Windows Update site with no probs. I did
see this on the Internet Storm Center site, however, and it does make a
reference to the MS article on how to apply the patch manually.......note:
this does require editing the Registry and ALL normal precautions should be
taken before the endeavor.

Yesterday Microsoft released a patch for IE. We have received a report that
one user has a problem after the patch is applied, resulting IE no longer
has a URL field. Since the patch will just turn off the ADODB.Stream ActiveX
Control, we do not see any problem if the patch is applied. However, if you
do have, let us know the issue. If you wish to disable the ADODB.Stream
object from Internet Explorer manually, you can refer to Microsoft Knowledge
Base Article 870669:
