Default Installable File Share Program

I accidently deleted the help file for Microsoft IFSP and now my computer
will not start up. When I turn it on, it notifies me that this file is
missing, but I am unable to do anything else. I have ran a Quick Restore
program twice on my computer, however, the problem was not fixed. Is there
anything else I can do to put this file back on???

There is no such thing as 'Microsoft IFSP' in Win ME (or any other Microsoft
OS that I can see).

What's the EXACT name of the file that can't be found??

You may have a virus/spyware hijack

download the Stinger from here and run it to make sure that A-V-disabling
viruses are not present on your PC
http://download.nai.com/products/mca...rt/stinger.exe

- update your virus scanner and run a full system scan of all files.

Reboot to Safe Mode and run CWShredder - to remove variants of the
CoolWebSearch hijacker.

Use CWShredder, the removal tool:

http://www.merijn.org/files/CWShredder.exe
http://www.spywareinfo.com/downloads...CWShredder.exe
http://www.zerosrealm.com/downloads/CWShredder.zip

download AdAware from www.lavasoftusa.com, install, update, and run it to
remove spyware, adware,
and other such nasties from your system.

Noel,

The OP is probably referring to ifshlp.sys.

Can you please follow up as necessary as I doubt I'll be around much for
the next couple of days? Having major problems in trying to recover data
here at present.

Emily54:

See MS KB258471 - "Error Message: The Following File Is Missing or
Corrupted: C:\Windows\Ifshlp.sys"
(http://support.microsoft.com?kbid=258471 for a possible solution to the
problem including details of how to extract a new copy of ifshlp.sys.

I did wonder - no problem about the follow-up, Mike (I probably know your
boilerplate by heart, by now - or at least I should do!g)
