CD Autorun is getting reset
The autorun feature of my CD drive keeps getting reset. I
edit the regestry and set NoDriveTypeAutoRun to 95 00 00 00, but after a reboot the value is reset. How can I keep this from getting reset? |

Check out any CD mastering/burning software you might have installed and
use. Such applications often reset this registry value and then restore it when finished. If however a system is rebooted or crashes before the mastering application closes then the registry value is not restored. One example of such an application is CeQuadrat (now Roxio) WinOnCD. -- Mike Maltby MS-MVP [2001-2004] Fred wrote: The autorun feature of my CD drive keeps getting reset. Yes, I have Roxio installed and running on my system. How
do I get it to stop resetting the registry value? -----Original Message----- Check out any CD mastering/burning software you might have installed and use. What is it being reset to? 95 00 00 00 is the duhfault, and a bad one at that - because it allows \Autorun.inf dropper attack on HD volumes. Rather use 9D 00 00 00 that blocks that effect. Expect trashy CDware to reset this back to 95, just so the CD app can work, even if it puts you at risk from malware droppers. -------------------- ----- ---- --- -- - - - - Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, does not go away (PKD) -------------------- ----- ---- --- -- - - - - |
