Quick Launch
Please do not call me names or yell at me through cyberspace.
Me accidentally [yes, because I was not thinking] deleted all files and folders and registry settings related to 'Quick Launch'. I tried importing an old registry I had, but that did not work. Any ideas? TIA, SGB P.S. I can hear you calling me names and yelling. Not nice! LOL |

Quick Launch
I tried importing an old registry I had, but that did not work.
As in "System Restore" or "scanreg /restore" and, how old? You just *may* have a couple of more lives left. However, if you've deleted files - and depending on exactly which files - you've probably lost them for good. Unless - and really clutching - "Recycle Bin"? or better yet, your back-up regime?? Oops! In which case it's back to the drawing board and (if you can remember what you had before) re-create them. (In the Toolbar sub menu's) No name calling from me. There, but for the grace of god, go I - and probably many others too. Good luck. Mart "SGB" wrote in message ... Please do not call me names or yell at me through cyberspace. Quick Launch
OMG! I am so...
'System Restore' does not reinstall it either. When I right click to Toolbars Quick Launch it reads "Cannot create toolbar." with a white X in a red circle. Then, I have no other choice , but to click "OK" Yikes! Multi-tasking isn't al it cracked up to be. #$%& me! SGB "Mart" wrote in message ... Quick Launch
Try manually recreating the Quick Launch toolbar.
C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch You'll have to populate it again. As you have already found the C:\Windows\Application Data folder is one of a number of locations excluded from System Restore monitoring. Other such excluded folders include My Documents, Favourites, Cookies, TIF, Windows\Temp, Windows\Applog and Windows\Downloaded Program Files. -- Mike Maltby SGB wrote: OMG! I am so... Quick Launch
Mike,
The folder is not there. I did a search, but it does not come up with any results "Quick Launch" Looked in regedit, but no find either. It seems to be completely gone. Do you have the info needed to add to the registry to manually recreate it or something else; perhaps a zip file? TIA! SGB "Mike M" wrote in message ... Quick Launch
I'm sorry but it appears you may have misread my message. You need to
CREATE the FOLDER C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch. You do this in the same way as any other folder using Windows Explorer. I intentionally made no mention of regedit. -- Mike Maltby SGB wrote: Mike, The folder is not there. Sorry Mike.
After I create the folder, then what do I add to the folder to recreate the program? I appreciate your help. SGB "Mike M" wrote in message ... Quick Launch
Mike,
The "Quick Launch" folder had to be created in C:\WINDOWS\Profiles\***Name***\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer Thanks for leading me in the right direction though. All's good for now! eg SGB (snip) "Mike M" wrote in message ... I'm sorry but it appears you may have misread my message. I didn't know that you had multiple users/profiles installed. A default
single user Win Me install normally uses the folder I mentioned - or at least it does here, none of my Win Me systems ever having had a C:\Windows\Profiles\ folder. I'm pleased to read you've now fixed the problem and all without using regedit! -- Mike Maltby SGB wrote: Mike, The "Quick Launch" folder had to be created in C:\WINDOWS\Profiles\***Name***\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer Thanks for leading me in the right direction though.
