Default write zeros to hard drive

At one time I cleaned up my hard drive by writing zeros
to it and the reinstalled windows 98. This helped my
computer run better, I would like to do this again. I
can't remember how to do this can any one help?

Most hard drive manufacturers have the feature included in their downloadable
diagnostics programs that create bootable floppies with such utilities included.

What brand is your hard drive?
