Default Mouse driver file

What is the name of the Microsoft mouse driver file or files?

What folder is it located in?

Default Mouse driver file

mouse.drv and msmouse.vxd are in the Windows\System folder.
vmouse.vxd is part of the monolithic driver named vmm32.vxd, so you will not
normally see that file separately.

Why do you ask....are you having some problem?

I've installed many mouse drivers previously. I un-installed them but now the
mouse is too sensitive, etc. even though I made adjustments using the
"mouse" control panel. Exactly which files should I exchange?

Might not be a driver issue.....sensitive in what way? It may be the mouse
itself.....have you tried the mouse on another computer, and have you tried a
different mouse on your computer?

What driver do you have installed now?

Try this:
Start in Safe Mode, open Device Manager there, expand the Mouse category and remove
everything listed there. Also, if there is an "Other" category, remove everything
in that also. Click OK, and then restart in normal mode and let Windows re-detect
your mouse.

To start in Safe Mode:
- Start the computer and hold down the CTRL key till the Windows 98 Startup menu
(boot menu) appears.
OR
- Repeatedly tap the F8 key after the memory count to bring up the boot menu.
- Use the arrow keys to select "Safe Mode" and press Enter.
