died. And, too many still suffer. It does matter that good somehow

I agree with heirloom, there are plenty of groups to vent one's
political rage. So enough righteous country bashing, theres plenty to go
around from every point of view. Let's return this one to what made it a
great place to visit. Before it becomes a candidate for a complete "plonk".

yep, and that is why the USA is now called southern Canada, oh that is
right it is NOT called southern Canada but rather the USA; because
although you may have won a battle you LOST that war! Even the tiniest of
countries military can win a battle or skirmish now and then; but winning
the war is another thing. I stand by the statement that if it were not
for the USA, all of you Canadians would be speaking German as most likely
would the rest of the world. The USA WON WW2, and maybe that is what
sticks in you crawl and makes you PO'ed; because we DID WIN WW2 and you
and the rest of the world knows that no matter how much you say different
it does NOT make it so

You may wish that those like myself that dare to tell it like it is,
instead of like what you and others in other countries wish it were like
would stfu; but I can only call it like I see it and the truth is that if
the USA had never come into being, then the world would be in a much much
worse condition and there is not doubt in any reasonable thinking person
about that FACT!
I can understand those living in other countries wishing it were not so
and I even applaud their patriotism for their respective countries; but that
does not change the fact that the USA is the most powerful country on earth
and because of that fact alone the rest of the world should be grateful that
the USA believes in other countries having freedom of self direction. Well
that is unless a country infringes on the rights of other countries
freedoms.
The USA sees countries much like it sees it's own citizens and will
*allow* them as much freedom as they want until they try and use that
freedom to infringe upon the same freedoms enjoyed by others.
The other countries of the world should thank God that the USA is NOT
like Germany or Japan were back in WW2; because the USA could have easily if
they had wanted to, taken over the entire world back at the close of WW2;
but the USA believes in freedom for ALL too much to do something like that.
Lets just look at it this way, lets say that over night the USA got
wiped off the face of the globe. How long do you think it would be before
Russia would be trying to run the world. What about China? if the USA was
not around to buffet them do you really think they would not go for world
conquest? If the USA disappeared over night, North Korea would take over
all of Korea the next day and then set their sights on Japan, well unless
China annexed them first. If the USA were gone, the entire world may even
evaporate into radioactive mist as the other countries jockey to take over
the globe.
The USA is NOT perfect; but compared to others we are closer then most.
I don't take the news at face value, you must remember I was in Vietnam and
I saw first hand how we would be doing one thing and the public was told
something else; but I also know that sometimes it *is* necessary to keep the
public in general and the press in particular in the dark to keep solders
safe.

I sat on my hands as long as I could while the USA was taking a tongue
lashing in several threads, and all I read was Canada this and Canada that
and UK is better and Canadians wishing that the USA were this or that until
I just had to speak.
America is NOT perfect; but without it the world would be in quite a
pickle, and the world should remember that the USA is their friend; but all
the Americans get for offering the hand of friendship to countries is that
they will take the money and things and help we offer while they are in need
and just as soon as they have sucked the resources we offered and turn to
help another country the one we just helped stabs us in the back most times
using the very implements we gave them for farming or to protect their self
with.
