problems installing TT fonts
I'm going through the throes of reinstalling 98SE on this machine (the
previous stable clean working instance of which was trashed on uninstalling Avast!). I have now got most apps/drivers reinstalled, and need to reinstall some TrueType fonts. WinHelp (1) says: To add a new font to your computer Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then double-click Fonts. On the File menu, click Install New Font. Click the drive, and then click the folder that contains the fonts you want to add. Click the font you want to add. which would be wonderful, except on the nominated File menu there is no such choice offered - only the "standard WinExploder" type selections of: .. New (grayed out selections, Not font-related) .. Fonts (folderName) .. Work offline .. Close WinHelp (2) also adds the following note: For TrueType, Raster, or Adobe Type 1 fonts, you can also add the font by dragging the appropriate files to the Fonts folder. I tried that but they don't appear in the app font selection window. Any clues why I can't get the suggested CP-Fonts-File menu selections, and/or how I can get to the desired end result? |
