Default DirectX, Fdisking, is it OK.

Hello to all,
Gary, (hope you are reading this) I am Fdisking my friends computer
tomorrow; she has Win98se and I will be putting back Win98.
Her SE has the DirectX on it as standard but she doesnt have SE
disk so she will be going down a grade but she too has a son who
has games that require it.
Seeing as how I am going to start from scratch with her computer,
will I be safe going to WindowsKB and downloadingX directly after
setting up her internet connection?
As you know, I darent put it on my own computer due to the 1% factor that
'things could go wrong' as I have seen within this group in
the last month and problems others have suffered. (I have too much
on my computer that I dont wish to risk just for the sake of Games)

Also, she will only have Outlook Express 5 on instal, should I download 6
before or after Direct X download?(providing of course
that you guys say its okay to download X)

thank you all

regards Jane

I haven't been keeping up with this thread, but the idea of downgrading to
plain vanilla 98 sure doesn't sound too good. I'm guessing that you have
NO other alternatives, or you wouldn't be doing that.
