Data recovery?
Why can't I access the data on my slave drive after reinstalling Windows ME
on the master drive? -- Message posted via WindowsKB.com http://www.windowskb.com/Uwe/Forums....neral/200611/1 |

You could start by telling us what it is you can do or see. For example
can you see the drives in Windows Explorer. If not can you see the drives in the Device Manager? You say you reinstalled Win Me, what was the previous operating system? Was that also Win Me or something else? If not Win Me what was the OS? -- Mike Maltby Tim O via WindowsKB.com u27552@uwe wrote: Why can't I access the data on my slave drive after reinstalling Windows ME on the master drive? |

I can not see the slave drive in Windows Explorer.
I can see the master drive in Explorer. I can see both drives in the device manager. Windows ME was the previous operating system. Thanks, Tim Mike M wrote: You could start by telling us what it is you can do or see. For example can you see the drives in Windows Explorer. If not can you see the drives in the Device Manager? OK, so you can see both drives in the Device Manager which is good. What
do the properties for each drive have to say? For example does one of them have a yellow and white exclamation mark or red cross? What drive letters do the Properties sheet for each drive tell you have been allocated (You will find this on the Settings tab)? Have you perhaps blocked access to drive letters beyond C using a tool such as TweakUI? I asked about the previous operating system in case this had been for example XP and the missing drive formatted to use the NTFS filing system which is unreadable in Win Me without the use of third party drivers. -- Mike Maltby Tim O via WindowsKB.com u27552@uwe wrote: I can not see the slave drive in Windows Explorer. I haven't blocked access to drive letters beyond C using a tool such as
TweakUI. The master has drive letter C and the slave does not have a drive letter. Also no yellow and white exclamation mark or red cross appear.
