unable to access cd drive

I am unable to access the cd drive. A message comes up
with not accessible and device not ready yet if I put in
a cd if I go to eject if will eject.
When scan happens if if being read. Any ideas.

Try cleaning the drive with a standard audio CD player cleaning disc. If
that does not help the drive may have failed and need to be replaced.
