Default Window 98Se new install

Because of an old DOS program having a Parallel port dongle, which I cannot
get to work with Windows XP, I installed Windows 98 2nd Edition on an HP
laptop which came with Windows XP Home
I reformated the harddrive and installed Windows 98 2nd Edition, but as soon
as the first boot completes, after the initial installation from the Cd Rom,
I the get blue screen of death and I have to reboot and the same thing
happens all over. Can't get past that screen. I am hoping anyone has come
suggestions on how to get past this.
Anne

It might help if you told us what the error message is.
