Cannot boot up. I can see C: in dos but windows won't load
as usual! Since our manufacturing system is down my boss has given me this other machine to play with and attempt to fix. I am running win98 and it just plain won't boot into windows. With a boot disk I can get into C. I have run scandisk and defrag. Can anyone let me know the next appropriate steps to try? |

To add some more details. I can see the initial win98
bootup screen with the line scrolling across the bottom. After that the screen goes blank and then runs a virus scan. After the scan says the system if free of viruses it won't procede any further in the boot up. I can get into safe mode. Any help would be grealty appreciated. -----Original Message----- Cannot boot up. I can see C: in dos but windows won't load as usual! See if it'll start by booting off the hard disk into command line mode and typing EXIT or WIN followed by enter -- The e-mail address in our reply-to line is reversed in an attempt to minimize spam.
