Correcting reduced screen size:
After running Linux in my IBM Thinkpad 380Z (only 3GB HD, but enough
for purpose) I decided recently to replace it with Win98SE. This I did, successfully except that the monitor screen has shrunk to a mere 170x130 mm (from 270x200) and is stuck at 640x480 and 16 colours, whereas from the User Guide it should support up to 1280x1024. This reduced screen is too small for convenient use, although otherwise the computer seems to be working normally. Much searching and experimenting have failed to provide any explanation or cure. Presumably it is a driver problem, but I have been unable so far to identify what should be the proper driver, after consulting Windows, the User Guide, the IBM site and the internet generally. Can anyone suggest where I have gone wrong and how it may be corrected? |

Go to the IBM.COM web site, put the model number of your computer (it will
be something like 2625-34U, the numbers will surely be different but the pattern will be four numbers, a dash, then three letters and/or numbers) in the search box at the top-right-hand corner of the web page. Click Search. Pick the very first match that's returned by the search. It will be the main support and driver download page for your model of IBM PC. Download and install the correct video drivers for your laptop model. -- Richard G. Harper [MVP Shell/User] * PLEASE post all messages and replies in the newsgroups * for the benefit of all.
