Hijacked?
I have run a virus scan. I ran spysweeper and removed all
spyware. I tried adaware and it shows that there are files it can't remove in the restore folder. I have shut off restore but adaware still comes up with the restore files. Can I delete them? If so, how. I tried hijack this but when I get on the Internet another IE page pops up on top of my hompage. The homepage has not been changed by this thing. This is driving me nuts. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

Disable Restore. Reboot immediately. Enable it again. Reboot immediately.
You will lose all your restore points but the malware will no longer have a home on your computer. Alias "Mike" wrote I have run a virus scan. I ran spysweeper and removed all spyware. There are two files in the Windows\System folder it could not remove. I booted to a startup disk and deleted them. I am running another adaware scan. Will let you know how it goes. The files in the system folder were cemdlg32.dll and ipfrared.dll. |

Mike - now would be a good time to check that System Restore is functioning
as intended (from your posts so far, it would seem that it wasn't doing so, at least until the reset you performed) Look here for some suggestions on how to test - and other ways to ensure that SR is in perfect health. http://www.btinternet.com/~winnoel/quiktipsr.htm -- Noel Paton (MS-MVP 2002-2004, Win9x) Nil Carborundum Illegitemi http://www.btinternet.com/~winnoel/millsrpch.htm http://tinyurl.com/6oztj Please read http://dts-l.org/goodpost.htm on how to post messages to NG's "Mike" wrote in message ... -----Original Message----- -----Original Message----- Disable Restore.
