Need to install Cabinet Files and ZIP Folders - WITHOUT CD
Short and simple:
I need to reinstall the system's 'Cabinet.exe' application. Cabinet Files just don't work properly without them. However, any ZIP or CAB files cannot be accessed due to this problem! And there is also no CD's AT ALL. -- Microdumb - The REAL Microsoft! "Don Phillipson" wrote: "Microdumb" wrote in message ... To view cab files again, try this:
Make up a file from the lines below. Copy into a file called fix.reg which should be created in Notepad. Do not retype, copy in case of errors. The 1st line in the file is the line REGEDIT4 Make sure your mail or news reader does not add any spaces to the end of a line. The last line must be blank. Right-click fix.reg and select Merge. -----copy below this line fix.reg------------ REGEDIT4 [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.cab] @="CLSID\\{0CD7A5C0-9F37-11CE-AE65-08002B2E1262}" [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{0CD7A5C0-9F37-11CE-AE65-08002B2E1262}] @="Cabinet" "EditFlags"=hex:00,00,00,00 [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{0CD7A5C0-9F37-11CE-AE65-08002B2E1262}\InProcServer32] @="C:\\WINDOWS\\SYSTEM\\ShellExt\\cabview.dll" "ThreadingModel"="Apartment" [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{0CD7A5C0-9F37-11CE-AE65-08002B2E1262}\DefaultIcon] @="C:\\WINDOWS\\SYSTEM\\ShellExt\\cabview.dll" [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{0CD7A5C0-9F37-11CE-AE65-08002B2E1262}\shell] @="" [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{0CD7A5C0-9F37-11CE-AE65-08002B2E1262}\shell\open] @="View" "EditFlags"=hex:01,00,00,00 [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{0CD7A5C0-9F37-11CE-AE65-08002B2E1262}\shell\open\command] @="explorer /root,{0CD7A5C0-9F37-11CE-AE65-08002B2E1262},%1" ---- end file above here There is no ZIP application installed with Win98.
