Default Reformatting Hard Drive

Hello I am just bought a second user computer and the original owner seems
to have removed a number of programs and files. The resulting drive is
fragmented and although it has been defragged I would like to reformat the
hard drive so that I can effectively install what software and files I wish.

I would be grateful if anyone could post with how you do it as I have never
reformatted a hard drive before. I have windows XP Home that I will put on
after the drive is formatted but just need instructions on formatting the
drive.

Thanks

Colin

Thank you for the information, although I do not see why there are links
such as " Please read http://dts-l.org/goodpost.htm on how to post messages
to NG's". This has nothing to do with my posting.

If the link is as result of me posting elsewhere then I do not apologise for
this action as being new to newsgroups I have to learn my way. Perhaps when
you posted for the first time on a newsgroup your own posting was not so
hot'!!

I came for advice and did not know that posting to newsgroups can be so
'bitchy'?

Colin.......the link is a standard part of his sig line......it had nothing
to do with you in particular. But it might not hurt to have a look at it if
you are *new to news groups*.

There was no *bitchiness* intended......it was only your perception. If you
posted the question on another ng (which you obviously did) and he answered
it on that one......why should it be repeated? SOP, as the saying goes.

Hope you get up on the right side of the bed tomorrow.....(G)

That's part of Noel's automatic "sig"(signature); that particular one is
good reading. It has nothing to do with your post in particular.
